Research & method
An argument should
leave a trail.
Evidence should be open to examination. Uncertainty should remain visible.
Current status
The method
is in preparation.
The standards below describe how the project intends to examine its claims.
They do not indicate that verification or expert review has been completed. Individual sources, review contributions and outcomes will be identified when they are published.
The intended approach
| Standard | Purpose | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Frozen claims | Record the wording, scope and version of a claim before examining its support. | In preparation |
| Primary evidence | Trace assertions to original records, documentation or research where available. | In preparation |
| Independent corroboration | Distinguish genuinely separate confirmation from repeated reporting of the same source. | In preparation |
| Expert review | Seek relevant scrutiny and identify its scope, limits and disagreements. | In preparation |
| Provenance | Keep a traceable connection between source material, interpretation and the published text. | In preparation |
| Corrections | Preserve dated changes and explain why an earlier statement was revised. | In preparation |
02 / Evidence register
Sources, with context.
Source notes will identify the claim under examination, the material supporting it, the limits of that material and the status of the assessment.
The source register has not yet been published.
03 / Corrections & revisions
Changes belong
in the record.
When research material is published, substantive corrections will retain the previous claim, the reason for the change and a dated revision.
This section is reserved for that record. General website progress appears in project updates.
